The FT and Pearson are celebrating Ada Lovelace Day 2015 with a networking breakfast. Following that, we are partnering with Code Club to present a hands-on demo of Scratch to teach the basic concepts of programming. Please note that this event is not open to the public.

This display celebrates Byron’s daughter Ada, Countess of Lovelace (1815–52), who wrote with remarkable foresight about the potential of Charles Babbage’s calculating machine, including what is often called the first computer programme. It is based on collections held in the Bodleian Library and the Oxford Museum of the History of Science.

We have invited girls (Year 10) from a local school to visit our research labs, where female scientists will tell the students about their work and demo their techniques. Fabulous Girls with Inspiring Stories: Our aim to organize this event is to encourage girls and women to study and work in the STEM fields by both inspiring them and helping to develop their skills. This event would be held parallel to GDG Devfest 2015.
