“Are Women in Britain Frightened of Maths?” – Ada Lovelace Day 2015 at City University London

14 October 2015 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Join us for City University London’s celebration of Ada Lovelace Day. As part of the celebrations novelist, journalist and creator of the recent e-book “Money Stuff”, Shirley Conran, and City academic and maths advocate, Dr Olalla Castro Alvaredo, will explore the topic “Are Women in Britain Frightened of Maths?”

In 2015, the engagement of women in maths, from confidence in everyday money management to involvement in maths-based study choices and careers, is still not on par with that of their male counterparts.

Prof Lis Howell, City’s Director of Broadcasting and an advocate for the positive representation of women in media, will facilitate the discussion, and invite Q&A from the audience, during this stimulating event.

The presentation will be followed by a light drinks reception.
