International Women’s Day

Monday 8 March 2021

We celebrated International Women’s Day with an hour long live-streamed panel discussion titled Comedy and Communication, looking at how we can all use comedy techniques in our STEM communications and teaching.

The discussion was hosted by comedy and science writer Helen Pilchar, and speakers included maths teachers Susan Okereke and comedian and science comedy producer Kyle Marian Viterbo, and biologist, YouTuber and science communicator Dr Sally Le Page. Ada Lovelace Day

Tuesday 12 October 2021

After last year’s triumph, and given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve decided to once again hold Ada Lovelace Day online.

As we did last year, we’ll be celebrating women in STEM and the organisations and advocates that support them with posts on our blog, TwitterFacebook and our public Patreon page. We will also hold live webinars, with women from across the international STEM community talking about key developments in their fields.

Our epic content marathon will start at midnight on Kiritimati Island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and end a full 50 hours later at midnight on Baker Island and Howland Island, two uninhabited atolls which are actually further west than Kiritimati Island but which sit on the other side of the International Date Line.

See our ALD events page or more info about our webinars!
