About Suw

Ada Lovelace Day was founded in 2009 by Suw Charman-Anderson. Suw is a social technologist, journalist and writer who got fed up the tech industry’s continual excuses regarding the lack of women speakers at conferences and decided to do something about it. Suw’s first blog post which explains where the idea for ALD came from. You can also find out more about Suw on her professional blog, Strange Attractor, and her personal blog, Chocolate and Vodka. She is @Suw on Twitter.

The team

Ada Lovelace Day couldn’t function without its volunteers who do everything from putting databases together to sysadmining to helping with publicity and organising events. Current volunteers that deserve our undying thanks include:

  • Miles Taylor: project management and nagging
  • Maggie Berry: event organisation and BCSWomen liaison
  • Jenny Blacker: information scientist and data-wrangler
  • Owen Blacker: database advisor
  • Helen Arney: event organisation
  • Hannah Dee: BCSWomen events

We have also been helped immeasurably by:

  • eVectors who have built the website
  • BCSWomen, who continue to provide support.
