Ada Lovelace Celebration Day

Thirty female students from three local schools are coming to the IBM development Lab in Hursley to ‘meet’ Ada and enjoy a day of technical activities and talks. They’ll get to see round the 17th Century Hursley House museum, and hear about life as a woman in Ada’s time, as well as seeing exhibits from early computing. From that, they’ll race through to modern life, experiencing IBM’s latest demos in our Emerging Technology Services lab.
During the day students will take part in our successful Women In Technology workshop. Using gaming consoles and hardware, this workshop illustrates a variety of technical career options. In addition students get to meet female role models and hear about their career paths first-hand and learn about the value of studying technical subjects.
