Ada Lovelace Day 2017 at the School of Engineering – University of Valencia

The School of Engineering of the University of Valencia (ETSE-UV) organizes Ada Lovelace Day celebration in 2017

Ada Lovelace Day at the ETSE-UV was held on 10th October with the participation of students, faculty, staff and engineers invited to a talk-colloquium.
During the morning we had a playful activity consisting in the creation of a panel of photographs of students and staff of the ETSE-UV. In the afternoon, engineers from the areas of computer engineering, chemical engineering, and electronics and telecommunications engineering have presented their professional trajectories and answered the questions asked by those attending the talk-colloquium. Silvia Quesada, consultant at Indra, has shown her experience in management applications for large companies, highlighting the need for continuous updating of knowledge. Inés Picazo, head of environment in Saggas, has emphasized the importance of academic training and principles in the exercise of the profession of engineer. For Mayte Bacete, director of MaxLinear Hispania, “attitude” and “desire to learn” are aspects that are valued especially for the hiring of engineers. All of them have stressed that they have not found great barriers to the exercise of their profession.

The School of Engineering of the University of Valencia (ETSE-UV) organizes Ada Lovelace Day celebration in 2017 with the following activities:

1. Photocall. We will create an exhibition of pictures of students and staff at the ETSE-UV. The photographs will be made during the morning of October 10th.
2. Colloquium with women graduates of the ETSE-UV or of relevance in their professions. It will be held on October 10th.
3. Work on the figure of Ada Lovelace in the subject “Engineering, Society and University” of first year of all grades of the ETSE-UV.

All the activities will take place in the School of Engineering of the University of Valencia, Avda de la Universidad sn, 46100, Burjassot, Spain.
