Tech Girls Movement

The Tech Girls Movement was founded on International Women’s Day in 2014. They focus on encouraging girls into STEM with books that have real-life female role models, and have given a phenomenal 80,000 free books to schools across Australia. They also run a number of activities and programmes, such as the TechGirls Competition, Robotics Workshops and Academy for Enterprising Girls.

Dr Emma Burrows

Location: Australia

Emma is a neuroscientist and change agent for equity in STEM. She leads a team at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health researching genetic mutations in disorders such as autism. She is also a board director of Women in STEMM Australia, co-founder of Women in Science Parkville Precinct, a science communicator, and mentor for early-stage researchers.

Women in STEMM Australia is a not-for-profit association for women in STEM, who advocate for gender equity and equality. They run a blog where STEM leaders talk about their careers and thoughts on diversity and inclusion, and profile Australian Women in STEM. Vic Jack

TechWomen

Location: New Zealand

TechWomen was formed by a group of ICT and tech professionals who are focused on addressing the shortage of women in tech. They inspire girls, support the growth of women in tech roles, and help develop policy to improve diversity in the workplace, supported by NZTech. They manage a community of 800 members, run Mentoring Circles and events such as ShadowTech Days.
