Women in STEM – Ada Lovelace breakfast

23 October 2018 @ 7:15 am - 9:00 am

AU$12 – AU$16

Ada Lovelace Day is an international celebration of the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and maths. It aims to increase the profile of women in STEM and, in doing so, create new role models who will encourage more girls into STEM careers and support women already working in STEM.

Join us at the Queensland University of Technology for an up close and personal Q & A with some of Brisbane’s top female STEM researchers over breakfast. This event is open to all.

Event schedule:

  • 7:15 – 7:30am: Event registration, pre-seminar breakfast and networking
  • 7:30 – 8:30am: Main presentation
  • 8:30 – 9:00am: Post-event breakfast and networking

Speakers:

Dr Jacqui Romero – ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQUS)

Jacqui is an expert on high-dimensional entanglement of the spatial modes of light. Her work has enabled many interesting studies in both foundational quantum mechanics and quantum information.

Dr Ayesha Tulloch – School of Biological Sciences UQ

Ayesha is a conservation biologist with a passion for the ecology of birds and mammals. Her work focusses on cost-effective and efficient resource allocation and decision-making processes for monitoring and management of threats to biodiversity.
