Ada Lovelace Day: celebrating four significant women in STEM
11 October 2016
Each year group has been selected a woman who has made a significant contribution to STEM subjects. An eclectic bunch; Jane Goodall, Sarah Guppy, Rosalind Franklin and Nichelle Nichols…they are chosen to give the children an insight into the very different roles women can play and also the very different historical times they lived in, and how attitudes to women and their place in society have changed almost beyond recognition.
For each topic there is a practical exercise ranging from communicating a message without words, to extracting DNA; from bridge building to the bridge of the SS Enterprise.
