ThoughtWorks SF celebrates Ada Lovelace 200th Birthday!
12 October 2015 @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm
FreeJoin us at our Ada Lovelace 200th Birthday Celebration @ our new ThoughtWorks office in San Francisco!!
Who was Ada Lovelace?
Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace was an English mathematician and writer, chiefly known for her work on Charles Babbage’s early mechanical general-purpose computer, the Analytical Engine. Her notes on the engine include what is recognized as the first algorithm intended to be carried out by a machine. Because of this, she is often regarded as the “first computer programmer”. Her contributions to the Analytical Engine remained a vision, but later came to fruition by inspiring Alan Turing’s work on the first modern computer in the 1940s. Ada now remains as a powerful symbol for women working in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
