[ONLINE] How teaching tech innovation can help shape the future for young Scots

4 October 2023 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Hear from Apps for Good about how their free computing courses will inspire Scottish changemakers of tomorrow.

Apps for Good are thrilled to be part of the Ada Scotland Festival again this year. Since 2000, the number of young women in Scotland taking computing science at school/college has been on a dramatic downward trajectory. The Ada Scotland Festival is working to address that gender imbalance.

Apps for Good computing courses give students the skills and motivation to shape their future through technology, while giving teachers the support and confidence to pick up and deliver high quality content and resources. We are an education charity committed to offering an opportunity for all. In the past 12 years, we’ve worked with almost 240,000 young people – with more than half of our schools in challenging circumstances and 50% of our students being girls. Thanks to the generous support of our partners, including Spotify and Google, our courses are 100% free to schools, as well as volunteering their industry expertise.

In this session, we’ll share more about how our computing courses map to the Curriculum for Excellence, as well as introduce our two key courses, Innovate for Climate Change and App for Social Action, in detail.

We hope to see you there!
