This talk will dispel common myths and misinformation about heat pumps, examining their efficiency, versatility, and ability to handle both heating and cooling—an increasingly crucial feature as global temperatures rise. We’ll explore various heat sources, including air, ground, water, and waste heat, showing how heat pumps can be applied in diverse settings, from homes to large buildings.
The session will also cover strategies to reduce capital and upfront costs, and we’ll look at emerging business models like heat-as-a-service, offering more affordable and flexible solutions.
Finally, we’ll compare the UK’s progress with Europe and examine the policy changes needed to speed up adoption here. Lisa Treseder is an accomplished innovator in renewable energy and heat pump technology. Five years ago, Lisa joined Kensa to work on their first large Innovate UK project, Energy Superhub Oxford, focusing on reducing heat pump running costs through use of smart controls optimized for time-of-use tariffs.
