Tech Industry Talks at University of Glasgow
9 October 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
FreeIt’s Ada Lovelace Day! Come along for a fantastic evening full of inspirational stories and career advice from high-flying women in the UK tech industry.
We will have several speakers from different companies (including Bloomberg and Morgan Stanley) who will each give a talk. Afterwards, Bloomberg will screen a short film, and then we will have a panel Q&A session. This is a fantastic opportunity to network and get expert career advice. There will also be free pizza and drinks provided!
Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, gender, or field of study. This is a great opportunity not to be missed, and it’s all completely FREE!
Carole Rennie Logan, a Glasgow uni graduate, is now a development team lead at Equator and chapter leader of Ladies of Code Glasgow. As a developer, she has an interest in web technologies particularly how these can be used in the internet of things to solve real life problems. When not coding, you will find her running around Glasgow or baking cakes.
Carole will discuss her experiences in industry, things she has learned since graduating and lessons she wishes she could give to her younger self.
Ilze Poca is a developer from Morgan Stanley. She will join the discussion, sharing her experience as a female developer working in the tech industry.
Anna-Sofia works as Executive Assistant at OBASHI Technology Ltd. After completing her MRes in Political Communication at University of Glasgow, Anna-Sofia spent 20 months working for a Translation Agency before joining OBASHI in July 2018. Based in Falkirk, OBASHI is a game changer in how people and businesses view the flow of data and the connection and interdependency between people, business process and technology. Anna-Sofia’s talk will focus on the lack of female role models in tech, it’s consequences, and how businesses like OBASHI look to change this status quo.
We will be in SAWB 422/423 from 5pm
