12 October 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
FreeAbout this event
The Fleet Science Center with a combined effort from local technology companies have formed a career panel celebrating women in STEM in honor of Ada Lovelace. The event will highlight the achievements modern women in science have accomplished and how that has transpired since Ada’s work in the 1800’s. This evening’s focus will be on Cyber Security, and women how are working in a STEM related profession.
Who was Ada?:
Ada Lovelace often described as the “Enchantress of Numbers” was an English mathematician and writer, primarily known for her work on Charles Babbage’s proposed mechanical general-purpose computer, the Analytical Engine. She was the first to recognize that the machine had applications beyond pure calculation, and to have published the first algorithm intended to be carried out by such a machine. As a result, she is often regarded as the first computer programmer.
