Ada Lovelace Day Celebration @ ISWC2018
9 October 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
FreeWhen: Tuesday 9th October (19:00-21:00)
Where: Asilomar Conference Ground, Monterey California – Seascape room (next to the Crocker dining hall, where lunch is served)
“Ada Lovelace Day (ALD) is an international celebration of the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). It aims to increase the profile of women in STEM and, in doing so, create new role models who will encourage more girls into STEM careers and support women already working in STEM.” https://findingada.com/
ALD is held every year on the second Tuesday of October. ISWC 2018 will remember Ada Lovelace on October 9 with social evening event that will include a discussion panel and a Wikipedia edit-a-thon. The event is open to all ISWC participants (registration required).
If you want to know more about the different programs and initiatives that you and your organization can do to reduce the obstacles faced by women in STEM, and discuss other possible alternatives, please join our panel!
Attendees of the Ada Lovelace celebration event will also be adding Wikipedia pages about women in STEM, following guidelines put together by organizers of the event. We will suggest some names (with their corresponding information), but if you have a colleague who you think deserves recognition for her work in a scientific field, this is your chance to create her Wikipedia page – please suggest candidates on this form.
Happy Ada Lovelace day everyone!
The event is kindly co-founded by the CRA-W and will be open to all ISWC participants.
