Ada Lovelace day @ Nationwide, supporting women in technology
9 October 2018 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm
FreeAda Lovelace Day is an international celebration of women working in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). This year, Nationwide is holding a special event at the STEAM Museum in Swindon, open to all women, but specifically those returning to work in careers in technology after taking time out and those looking to get into a career in technology.
The day will give you the opportunity to build your network, take a look at exciting new technology, hear from inspirational speakers, build your confidence and get hands-on experience in a series of workshops – all designed to equip you in finding and securing your dream tech job.
Our wonderful speakers are:
-
Dr Sue Black OBE – one of the top 50 women in tech in Europe, award-winning computer scientist, radical thinker, social entrepreneur and public speaker
-
Danielle Macleod – Former Customer Service Director of Sky and now Co-Founder of Somebody Inside, where women find the rocket fuel they need to dial up their impact in the world
-
Rachel Robinson – Nationwide’s Chief Product Owner for Digital and passionate supporter of women in technology
And the workshops will cover:
-
Your online profile – how to sell yourself professionally online when job hunting
-
Interview Brilliance – how to remain calm and composed, even when you think it’s gone wrong…
-
Work life balance – why it’s ok not to be perfect, and how to manage returning to work
Registration opens from 8.30am and the day kicks off at 9.30am. The event is free to attend and everyone who comes along on the day will go into a prize draw to win a voucher for a private mentoring session with Danielle Macleod, worth £500.
