Ada Lovelace Day is an international celebration of the achievements of women in science, technology engineering and maths.

The Operations Research Society of South Africa (ORSSA) is taking this opportunity to present the commendable work of two of our own, Dr Angela Rademeyer and Dr Sheetal Silal.

INFECTIOUS DISEASES: HOW CAN MATHEMATICAL MODELLING CONTRIBUTE?

With many countries around the world working to control and eliminate infectious diseases, mathematical modellers have the potential to make unique contributions to informing policy and guiding research. From strategic planning to resource allocation, drug resistance to the assessment of new tools, this talk will focus on ways that mathematical modelling can contribute to reducing the burden of disease with examples of current projects in Africa and the Asia-Pacific.
