WiRE UK & WiN UK Field Trip: Discovering Fusion Energy
10 October 2023 @ 10:30 am - 3:30 pmFree
*Please note that registration for this event is only open to women at this time*.
Join us on Ada Lovelace Day, Tuesday, 10 October 2023, for a joint WiRE UK and Women in Nuclear (WiN) UK visit to the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UK AEA) Culham Science Centre to learn about fusion energy!
The UKAEA is a leading research institute for fusion energy and related technologies, with the aim of positioning the UK as a leader in sustainable atomic energy.
Over the course of the day we will be able to tour the UKAEA facilities, including JET, the world’s largest and most advanced magnetic fusion experiment. This will also be an excellent opportunity to meet fellow energy professionals and organisations, such as WiN UK and UKAEA’s women network, and to celebrate pioneering women in STEM with a lunch ‘n learn.
We will meet outfront of the Culham Science Centre (Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 3DB) at 10:30am.
Please note you will be required to make your own way to the Culham Science Centre. Culham is the closest rail station but it is also possible to take a bus from Didcot Parkway station.
There are a limited number of spaces so the ticket allocation process will run on a first come, first serve basis. Register now to reserve your spot!
For any questions, please reach out to: email@example.com
Kindly note, that registration is only open to women at this time.

WiRE is proud and honored to be partnered with Women in Nuclear UK (WiN UK), one of over 30 international chapters under the umbrella of Women in Nuclear Global. Formed in 2014, WiN UK’s mission is to address the industry’s gender balance, improve the representation of women in leadership, engage with the industry, government and public on nuclear issues and support the industry with tools and information.
WiRE’s mission is to advance the role and recognition of women and other under-represented groups working in the energy sector. Inclusive of all renewable energy and clean energy technologies, our programming includes national and international chapters, student chapters, capacity-building field trips, networking meet-ups, awards recognition programs, student bursaries, speed mentoring, speed interviewing, spotlights, conferences, workshops, and more! Launched in 2013, WiRE forges partnerships with government agencies and a spectrum of energy industry associations, other related networking groups for professionals, and academic providers. WiRE appreciates the financial and industry support it receives from our sponsors, which helps to provide our programming at low or no cost.
