Academic Women Now: experiences of mid-career academic women in Scotland
10 October 2016 - 14 October 2016
FreeTuesday 11 October is Ada Lovelace Day, an international celebration of the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM).
To celebrate, Heriot-Watt University will host an exhibition showcasing the career paths of Heriot-Watt mid-career female academics*, women who have been through the early career stage but not yet reached the pinnacle of their careers. Some have worked overseas or in industry and many balance their career with family responsibilities. In demonstrating their routes to success we hope to offer inspiration to early career researchers considering a career in academia and seeking a window into how it can be achieved.
*These profiles are taken from the publication “Academic Women Now: experiences of mid-career academic women in Scotland” published by the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s Young Academy of Scotland. This initiative was led by Dr Aileen Fyfe, Prof Ineke De Moortel and Prof Sharon Ashbrook, University of St Andrews.
