DESCRIPTION:The University of Liverpool Department of Mathematical Sciences is Celebrating Ada Lovelace’s legacy with a hands-on coding session (suitable for Years 10-13) followed by a careers session with professionals from different areas of STEM! \nThe event in a nutshell:  Starts 3pm on Tues 6 October 2020 \n15:00-15:15 – Learn about Ada Lovelace\, the first computer programmer\, with a short presentation\n15:15-16:00- Learn how to code on Python – more info here\n16:00-16:15- Too long sitting down? Let’s have a break! – during this time organisers will still be around to answer any questions\n16:15-17:00 – Careers Carousel: get to know some professionals in STEM and ask them any questions you may have about their professions\, careers or studies \nYou can sign up for one or all the sessions! \nWho is this event for? \nWhile we are particularly keen to inspire female students to take up coding\,  students of all genders in Years 10 to 13\, are very welcome to attend. If you are a teacher you can register your full class for this event. If you are a student please make sure you are participating as part of a school and supervised by your teacher. DESCRIPTION:To celebrate Ada Lovelace Day 2020\, Teens In AI is running a global #ALDHack2020 Hackathon to inspire hundreds of girls and young people from underrepresented communities (LGBTQIA) aged 12-18 across the world into Artificial Intelligence. \nWe are on a mission to promote diversity in the tech industry. Join us to boost your understanding about AI\, develop a diverse set of skills including project management\, design & coding\, and be guided by key industry mentors. \nThere is a small commitment fee of £15.00 which will go towards the cash prize. \nThis fee can be waived by emailing michaela@teensinai.com if participants are unable to pay due to financial restrictions. \nThe hackathon will work around school hours! The hack will begin on Saturday 10th October and follow the rough timings of a school day throughout the weekend. During the week (12th-17th) any hackathon related events will take place from 16:30 earliest. This schedule will allow you to prioritise any homework or school-related activities whilst still being fully immersed in all of the amazing opportunities available to you during the hack. \nJoin our Annual Hackathon inspiring young people across the globe into AI for Impact in celebration of Ada Lovelace Day 2020!
