Mingle\, learn\, and hang out with those wanting to keep up with the latest in technology. It’s our shout\, so please join us for a light breakfast with some networking. \nADA LOVELACE DAY – ENCOURAGING & CELEBRATING WOMEN IN TECH \nThis year ThoughtWorks is hosting a By ThoughtWorks special breakfast event\, in celebration of Ada Lovelace Day. \nAda Lovelace Day is a celebration of the achievements of women in STEM and aims to create new role models who will encourage more women to follow STEM careers. \nOur speakers will share insights into how we can get young women interested in tech careers\, how we can retain great women technologists and close the gender pay gap\, and the experience of a successful woman leader in building great organisational cultures. \nSPEAKERS & AGENDA: \n7:15-7:45 am – Registration and Breakfast \n7:45-7:50 am – Welcome and Introduction \n7:50 – 8:05 am – Felicity Ruby \nFelicity Ruby is a research and policy adviser in the Office of the CTO at ThoughtWorks and is completing her PhD at Sydney University. Previously she was a Peace and Security Adviser to the United Nations Development Fund for Women and responsible for UNIFEM’s Peace and Security Program initiatives on enhancing women’s role in early warning and preventing violent conflict\, as well as providing targeted information to the UN Security Council on the impact of armed conflict on women and women’s role in peace-building.  \nBefore joining UNIFEM\, Felicity was an adviser to Greenpeace International\, and also headed the UN Office of Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom in New York. \n8:05 – 8:20am – Charlie Gerard \n\n\n\nCharlie began her career in the digital industry as a Digital Project Manager / Producer in a diverse range of advertising agencies in Paris and Sydney\, working for global brands such as Nivea\, Seat and Dove. \nBeing passionate about technology\, creative innovations and hardware\, Charlie decided to pursue a career in web development. \n\n\n\n\n\nNow a Software Developer and Consultant at ThoughtWorks\, Charlie uses her set of skills to help clients through building better software. In her spare time\, she loves building interactive prototypes mixing science\, art and technology. She also spends time giving back to the community by mentoring new developers\, contributing to open-source and speaking at conferences.\n\n8:20 – 8:35am – Maria Macnamara \nMaria is a senior executive\, founder\, adviser and non-executive director\, focused on scaling the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Australia. She has founded three companies\, including her current organisation\, Portal ideas\, which delivers program and product management\, strategy\, policy\, engagement\, communications\, marketing and business development advisory. Maria has over 30 years experience in the professional services sector\, politics\, government and the not-for-profit sectors. She also supports high potential startups develop their product\, brand and connect with talent and customers. \n8:35 – 8:45 am – Q&A panel \nOur speakers will answer questions from the audience regarding their talks or general questions on women in tech issues. \nRegister now as places are limited!
