SUMMARY:Women in STEM – Ada Lovelace breakfast
DESCRIPTION:Ada Lovelace Day is an international celebration of the achievements of women in science\, technology\, engineering and maths. It aims to increase the profile of women in STEM and\, in doing so\, create new role models who will encourage more girls into STEM careers and support women already working in STEM. \nJoin us at the Queensland University of Technology for an up close and personal Q & A with some of Brisbane’s top female STEM researchers over breakfast. This event is open to all. \nEvent schedule: \n\n7:15 – 7:30am: Event registration\, pre-seminar breakfast and networking\n7:30 – 8:30am: Main presentation\n8:30 – 9:00am: Post-event breakfast and networking\n\nSpeakers: \nDr Jacqui Romero – ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQUS) \nJacqui is an expert on high-dimensional entanglement of the spatial modes of light. Her work has enabled many interesting studies in both foundational quantum mechanics and quantum information. \nDr Ayesha Tulloch – School of Biological Sciences UQ \nAyesha is a conservation biologist with a passion for the ecology of birds and mammals. Her work focusses on cost-effective and efficient resource allocation and decision-making processes for monitoring and management of threats to biodiversity. \nElisha Frederiks – CSIRO Adaptive Social and Economic Systems \nElisha is a research scientist with expertise across the fields of psychology\, behavioural economics and social science. She specialises in applying key principles from these disciplines to investigate various social science challenges and opportunities\, particularly in the residential energy domain. \nQUT parking and map information available here. \nThis event is proudly supported by the Australian Science Communicators – South East QLD branch and the Queensland University of Technology. \nPlease advise any special needs or dietary requirements on booking.
