DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Ada Lovelace Day 2016 the Queen’s University Belfast School of Mathematics and Physics will be holding a Women in Science quiz in the Bell Lecture Theatre on Wednesday 12 October 2016 from 3pm. The event will include a short talk about the School’s work in relation to Athena SWAN and be followed by a chance to mingle over wine and nibbles on in the top floor interaction area in the IRCEP building. \nEverybody welcome! SUMMARY:Mathematics and Physics forum: Showcasing Women in Science
DESCRIPTION:School of Mathematics and Physics at Queen’s University Belfast has over 800 students and 130 staff\, of which 270 students and 15 members of academic staff are female. The school holds both an Athena SWAN silver award and Juno Champion status. In celebration of Ada Lovelace Day 2015 the first meeting of the Mathematics and Physics forum will be held 2-4pm in the Bell Lecture Theatre. \nThis forum is an excellent opportunity to get to know the female staff in the school\, hear about their experiences as a women in science\, to ask questions\, share your own thoughts\, and to interact with your peers. \nEveryone is welcome! \nTopics of the forum include:\n•    Introduction to Athena SWAN and Juno\n•    Introduction to Female Staff\n•    Discussions of research paths: For example\, should I do a master/PhD?
