DESCRIPTION:Ada Lovelace Day is an international celebration of women working in science\, technology\, engineering and maths (STEM). This year\, Nationwide is holding a special event at the STEAM Museum in Swindon\, open to all women\, but specifically those returning to work in careers in technology after taking time out and those looking to get into a career in technology. \nThe day will give you the opportunity to build your network\, take a look at exciting new technology\, hear from inspirational speakers\, build your confidence and get hands-on experience in a series of workshops – all designed to equip you in finding and securing your dream tech job. \nOur wonderful speakers are: \n\n\nDr Sue Black OBE – one of the top 50 women in tech in Europe\, award-winning computer scientist\, radical thinker\, social entrepreneur and public speaker \n\n\nDanielle Macleod – Former Customer Service Director of Sky and now Co-Founder of Somebody Inside\, where women find the rocket fuel they need to dial up their impact in the world \n\n\nRachel Robinson – Nationwide’s Chief Product Owner for Digital and passionate supporter of women in technology \n\n\nAnd the workshops will cover: \n\n\nYour online profile – how to sell yourself professionally online when job hunting \n\n\nInterview Brilliance – how to remain calm and composed\, even when you think it’s gone wrong… \n\n\nWork life balance – why it’s ok not to be perfect\, and how to manage returning to work \n\n\nRegistration opens from 8.30am and the day kicks off at 9.30am. The event is free to attend and everyone who comes along on the day will go into a prize draw to win a voucher for a private mentoring session with Danielle Macleod\, worth £500.

SUMMARY:Ada Lovelace Day at Nationwide Building Society – Swindon
DESCRIPTION:Over 100 local year 9 female students will come to Nationwide Head Office in Swindon where they will spend the day with some inspirational female role models who work at Nationwide. They will find out about the career paths taken by our female role models and understand more about how STEM subjects are relevant in the financial services sector. \nThey will visit our Innovation Lab and also learn how to use an algorithm to break a code without using a computer. \nA keynote speech will be given by Laura Dunn and the day will be led by Rowena Harwar who is the Head of Programme Architecture at Nationwide Building Society.
