Join us for informative sessions exploring this expanding industry\, inspired by the ‘mother of computing’\, Ada Lovelace. \nLovelace was a mathematician who developed the idea of programming – the concept that a computer can follow a set of simple instructions which\, when put together\, performs complex calculations. She even designed a computer\, the Analytical Engine\, that was never built but was considered the prototype for early programmes. \nItinerary \nArrival: 10am \nWelcome\, pastries & health and safety \nIndustry overview: \n10.15am Sep2 will present two short overviews and information about Technical Services (TS) and Security intelligence (SIS). \n11.25am Sep2 staff will share personal journeys into cyber security\, fears\, imposter syndrome\, experiences we’ve had\, what it’s like being a woman in a male dominated industry and the community we create. \nCV masterclass: 11:55am \nSep2 Q&A 15 mins \nEquifax: 12:30pm \nWe will hear from Equifax about what they do\, how their clients use them and give some examples (from their financial education standard offering). They can give some top tips on how to keep your credit score healthy and answer generic questions if there are any. SUMMARY:Ada Lovelace Girls in to Tech
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate Ada Lovelace Day\, we have invited 35 School girls from two local schools to our Printworks Campus. During the event we will host an employer lead coding masterclass\, followed by a carousel style activity where our visiting ‘girls in tech‘ will get to use our state of the art technical equipment! These range from VR headsets\, drones\, robots and spheros. \nOur 14-16 digital academy students will join the celebration and as part of their curriculum they have designed a key ring specifically for the day. Our visitors will each take home a bespoke designed key ring\, made in college\, by our students\, using the 3D printers. \n
