SUMMARY:[ONLINE] Inspiring Bristol Green Tech innovators
DESCRIPTION:We’re delighted to showcase a set of lightning talks from three fantastic female Bristol Green Tech innovators. \n1. “Seeing the wood for the trees with corporate activism” \n– Jaya Chakrabarti MBE\, Chief Evangalising Officer at Project Vana \nWith recent press coverage on afforestation being a way to “fix the planet”\, there is dire need for decent LIVE data on land ownership to identify where trees can be planted. There is also a complexity when it comes to the most effective land use once that land has been identified. \nCorporate land ownership data is a missing piece of this puzzle. It is our intention to fill in some blanks using available corporate transparency data and technologies. This talk is about what we’re doing right now and how we’ll achieve world-afforestation. \n  \nProject Vana \nTweets by jayacg \n———– \n2. “Building up Buttercup\, creating a sustainable e-learning and publishing business” \n– Rachel Mills\, Founder at Buttercup Learning \nButtercup Learning creates educational content to inspire children\, their carers and teachers alike to care for our planet. Rachel shares her experience developing sustainable web design and digital products that match her larger vision for Buttercup Learning. \nRachel will draw on her 20 years of experience in education and animation production to share how she: \n* Rebuilt the company’s website to one that was cleaner than 71% of pages tested. \n* The company’s efforts to reduce the impact of all their physical and digital products. \n* Her goal to explore and provide digital and craft based carbon literacy to other creative tech\, ed tech businesses and creative students. \n* How she is embedding regenerative principles into her company’s business model. \n  \nHome \n———– \n3. “The cooling crisis: How global cooling is contributing to global warming” \n– Molly Allington\, CEO at Albotherm \nAir conditioning alone accounts for 20% of electricity usage from buildings and 10% of total global electricity usage. To stop this cycle in its tracks\, we need to make better use of our natural resources and find more sustainable alternatives to air conditioning. \nMolly will talk about how she develops paints that are designed to reflect the sun’s rays at high temperatures\, reducing solar gain and helping to cool buildings without burning fossil fuels. \nShe’ll also explain what the cooling crisis really means for our future on this planet and how we can go about mitigating its effects. \nhttps://www.albotherm.com/ \n———– \nThis is a free online event streaming via the CrowdCast platform. You will see the link once you RSVP. The evening before the event\, we’ll email those that RSVPed with more details about what to expect when using CrowdCast. \n—————————————————————————————- \nOur schedule is as follows: \n🔓 12.25pm – CrowdCast room opens \n👋 12.30pm – Event starts with a welcome from your meet-up organisers\, Ellen\, Hannah and Mike \n📢 12.35pm – Our famous 60 second intros – a chance for attendees to introduce themselves\, ask for help and tell us about something the group might find interesting \n💚 12.45pm – “Seeing the Wood for the Trees with Corporate Activism” – Jaya \n💚 1.00pm – “Building up Buttercup\, creating a sustainable e-learning and publishing business” – Rachel \n💚 1.15pm – “The cooling crisis: How global cooling is contributing to global warming” – Molly Allington \n❓ 1.30pm – Questions for Jaya\, Rachel and Molly \n🗓️ 1.45pm – Round-up\, other community notices and next event announcement \nThe event will be recorded and will be available along with the slides to view shortly afterwards. \n  \nSponsored by: \nADLIB recruitment – www.adlib-recruitment.co.uk \nSupported by: \nFuture Leap Network – www.thefutureeconomynetwork.co.uk \nClimate Action Tech – www.climateaction.tech
