SUMMARY:Celebrating Ada Lovelace Day at NHSBT Bristol
DESCRIPTION:NHS Blood and Transplant is celebrating Ada Lovelace Day on 9th October 2018 and we invite you to get involved too. \nAda Lovelace Day honours and promotes the achievements of women who work in science\, technology\, engineering and maths (STEM). \nThe aim is to encourage girls to go into STEM careers and support those already working in these fields. \nNamed after the first computer programmer\, Ada Lovelace Day is marked by events all over the world. \nWho was Ada Lovelace?\nAda Lovelace (1815-1852) was an English mathematician who worked on the general purpose mechanical computer. \nShe was the first person to realise that the machine could do more than just calculations and created the first algorithm. \nHow we’re celebrating\nOn 9th October we’ll be opening the doors of our centre to female students of all ages in Bristol. \nThroughout the day students will have the chance to visit a blood centre\, see demonstrations of the careers at NHS Blood and Transplant and listen to talks by inspirational women working in STEM. \nPlease contact cathryn.brown@nhsbt.nhs.uk if you’d like to attend. \nThe Bristol sessions will be held at 9:30am – 12pm or 1 – 3:30pm. \nSTEM careers at NHS Blood and Transplant\nWorking for NHS Blood and Transplant helps save lives. \nWe offer a variety of STEM roles throughout the country including research\, lab analysis\, medical\, ICT\, statistics and behavioural science. \nVisit our careers pages to search for jobs and find out more about working for us.
