We will be celebrating the 200th birthday of computer visionary, Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace, with a mini festival at the museum. This will include two half-day sessions for schools and an evening event for the general public. A series of activities, including keynote presentations, workshops, coding and trails will take place throughout the day. Code & Chips, in association with The Hack Lab and Cambridge Science Museum,  is an interactive event focused around coding and ARM technology. The event will entertain 300 local school children and will aim to inspire them to become engineers of the future.

 Three Hackathon’s in 3 Spanish cities: Granada, Barcelona and Madrid. Professor Ursula Martin CBE, University of Oxford, discusses Ada Lovelace, 1815-1852, who is best known for her 1843 paper about Charles Babbage’s unbuilt computer, the analytical engine. The paper gave an account of the first ever computer programme, and had visionary insights into the power and limits of computing. The talk complements the Bodleian display celebrating Lovelace.

Fabulous Girls with Inspiring Stories: Our aim to organize this event is to encourage girls and women to study and work in the STEM fields by both inspiring them and helping to develop their skills. This event would be held parallel to GDG Devfest 2015.

To celebrate the achievements of Ada Lovelace and to encourage girls into Computing Science, Wider Access team and the School of Computing Science and Digital Media at Robert Gordon University are organising an afternoon of  practical and engaging Computing workshops. The workshops are aimed at S2 and S3 girls who show potential in STEM subjects, and they provide the participants an opportunity to learn more about Computing Science and meet other females working and studying in the profession.

Teens are invited to discover the 3D printer by designing a 3D object using Tinkercad, a free online program that teaches basic 3D print design.  Teens will also have an opportunity to have their design or a design of their choosing printed on the library's 3D printer while playing STEM trivia.  Due to the length of time 3D printing takes, teens will need to pick up their 3D prints at a later date.

The Suffrage Science scheme was founded seven years ago by the Medical Research Council’s London Institute of Medical Sciences (then Clinical Sciences Centre).
